Writing Without an Office

Not everyone has the luxury of a home office. I didn't have one for a long time. But I can tell you with absolute certainty, that if you have any creativity at all, a home office or art studio is a blessing.
Having a designated space to keep your carefully controlled chaos, your inspirational playlist, your sketches and inks and brushes and notes and that oh-so-important favorite pen or brush, is an incredible leg up in the world of creative work.
So, now that I'm downsizing and my home office is scattered between two houses, several rooms, and a handful of boxes, I struggle to be creative at all. I'm actually laying in bed with a lap desk, constantly fighting eight cats for my keyboard, pillow, and the ability to see (Mattie wants to lay between me and the laptop screen).
I'm in a game of "hurry up and wait" in which I have to be ready to move my things in quickly. But I also have to wait on getting the catio safely screened in for the cats, because I cannot move until they have an outdoor space to give them freedom and happiness. I may love my little 482 sq ft apartment with tidy shelves and hygge design and great natural light, but eight cats confined to that space 24/7 would be an absolute disaster on so many levels. The cats get their own 354 sq ft covered, enclosed catio, looking out into a double lot full of trees and bee gardens (and an indoor koi pond!) as well as access to my little apartment.
I'm still trying to find the best price on a bit of flooring for my new living room/kitchenette/office space. I'm trying to find a trustworthy carpenter to hang a good exterior door on the catio to make it safe for the kitties. Let's not forget that I work a full time job, and I don't usually get off work until nearly 7pm. That can make doing business a little difficult.
Pray for me, friends. I need things to keep going smoothly so that I can get that little apartment upgraded before moving in. I need my tidy little space. I need my office. Writing in bed is for the birds!
